    BOISE, Idaho — Idaho took the lead in a growing, nationwide fight against health care overhaul Wednesday when its governor became the first to sign a measure requiring the state attorney general to sue the federal government if residents are forced to buy health insurance.

    Similar legislation is pending in 37 other states.

    BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Idaho's Republican-dominated Senate told the federal government to back off, approving a bill in which Idaho promises to sue if Congress passes health-care reforms that require the state's residents to buy insurance. Sen. Monty Pearce said, "We're putting our guards up. We're putting up our hands and saying, 'We're going to protect our people.' "

    The bill passed on a 52-18 party line vote in the House. All seven Democrats voted against it.
